Porsche Centre Preston Extends Kirkham Grammar School Rugby 1st XV Sponsorship

12/12/2023

Porsche Centre Preston has confirmed its continued support for Kirkham Grammar School (KGS) rugby 1st XV team, extending its sponsorship into the 2023/24 season.

The extension was confirmed as the team’s new kit was revealed. The car centre on Watery Lane in Preston will continue to feature on both the home and away kits.

Porsche Centre Preston's sponsorship of the KGS first XV began last season, the first time it has sponsored one of the school’s first teams. In 2024, Kirkham Grammar School will celebrate 100 years of rugby at the school, having changed from being a soccer to a rugby-playing school in 1924.

Tom Fox, for Porsche Centre Preston, said: “We are excited to extend our support for Kirkham Grammar School rugby first XV. Especially in the season, they celebrate 100 years of rugby at the school. They represent so much of what we love about sports in our community.

“KGS is a perfect fit with our already-established relationships with local teams Preston Grasshoppers and Fylde. We wish all the young sports people representing Kirkham this year the very best for the coming season.”

Kirkham Grammar School 1st XV are the reigning Sedbergh Super Tens 2023 Champions, having won the final against Sedbergh School 17-5 in March. It is the first time in the cup’s history that Kirkham has won the cup in consecutive years.

Mr. Jonathan Roddam, Director of Rugby at Kirkham Grammar School, said: “We are proud that Porsche Centre, Preston, has agreed to continue as our 1st XV sponsor. The new kits look wonderful, and we are proud to wear the dealership’s brand on our shirts.

“Our sponsors' support is important.  And with someone like Porsche Centre, Preston, we are lucky to have a local business partner who shares our passion for sport and education.”

Porsche Centre Preston also supports the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation initiative. This three-year commitment aims to support up to 75 young players, granting them the perks of rugby club membership. Young players are provided with essentials like transport and kit, coupled with training support to ease their integration into club rugby.
